The next CAIA exams are Sept 08-19, 2008. Exam registration closes about six weeks before that date, so if you have not registered it is too late.
I did not include the courses or online video type courses. Those depend a lot more in the instructor and class size, etc. The four below are arguably the most [...]

Great Chinese Conversation

This is a screel grab from “Flavor of Love”. The black girl in this picture lived in Taipei for five years. Her Dad is from HK, and she grew up in Cali. Her Chinese was not slangy at all. It seems like she only learned Chinese at the MTC.

This frame, she is a bit drunk [...]

The End-of-Line Story

The ASCII standard for text does not define a unique end-of-line (EOL)
character. Instead, ASCII defines two independent and orthogonal
movements of the print head: Carriage Return (CR) and Line Feed (LF).
(IBM’s EBCDIC did not make this mistake; it defined a single New Line
(NL) character.) Early operating system designers had to adopt some
“end-of-line” convention using [...]

More on Penny Options

The CBOE put out a note on the Jan 18th concerning their Penny Pilot Program (PPP). That is what they call the program to test moving to penny options.
Anyway, they are going to roll out every friday for three weeks. The first week, just one WFMI. How they picked that one, I will never know. [...]

Death to Payment for Order Flow.

I have had a personal problem with payment for order flow ( payment for order flow ) for a long time. In Jan 2007, the SEC will have a trial for options priced in pennies. A penny option is an option that has a price increment that can move 0.01. Most options now trade with [...]

tload for OSX - Universal Binary

I released this a few years ago for the Power PC (PPC). It is tload for Darwin/OSX, like the one in FreeBSD, updated as a Universal binary. I really do not understand why Apple has not included tload in Darwin/OSX. It is one of those “low tech” utilities that make using UNIX systems nice.
